A simple service schedule
- Every 2–3 weeks in summer: wash the air filters yourself.
- Before summer (Feb–March): professional service — the most important one.
- After the monsoon (Oct–Nov): second service if you use the AC through the year or live near dust or construction.
- Heavy use (offices, shops, or running 10+ hours a day): every 3–4 months.
What you can do yourself
- Clean filters with plain water and let them dry fully before refitting.
- Wipe the indoor unit’s outer body and vents.
- Keep the area around the outdoor unit clear of leaves, boxes and plants.
What needs a professional
- Coil and blower cleaning with a pressure pump.
- Drain line flushing to stop leaks from the indoor unit.
- Gas pressure check and electrical connection check.
- Outdoor condenser cleaning and fan inspection.
Why regular servicing pays off
A clean AC cools faster and runs for shorter periods, which lowers electricity use. It also catches small problems — a weak capacitor or a slow gas leak — before they become expensive breakdowns in the middle of summer.
Consider an AMC
If you have more than one AC, an annual maintenance contract (AMC) schedules services automatically and usually works out cheaper than booking each visit separately.

Frequently asked questions
Is one AC service a year enough?
For light home use, one good pre-summer service plus regular filter cleaning can be enough. Heavy use or dusty areas need two or more services a year.
Does servicing really reduce electricity bills?
Yes. Dirty filters and coils make the compressor work harder and longer. Clean units reach the set temperature faster and use less power.
